Saving ENERGY

Some ways to save energy include:
Replacing incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescents (CFs).
There are different colors available for CFs.
Replacing an old refrigerator or deep freeze.
These old appliances use up a lot of power, making electric bills much higher. Look for the energy star appliances. There are some rebates for replacing old appliances with new appliances. Look for rebates and incentives at www.dsireusa.org.
Paying close attention to the use of Phantom loads
Phantom loads are devices that use a lot of power because we don’t think to shut them off or unplug them. Some phantom loads include:TV, VCR, DVD, DVR, cell phone chargers or any other black square chargers that plugs into the wall, clock radios, computers, printers, coffee makers, microwaves, and any device with a remote.
Paying close attention to the use of Phantom loads
20-watt load plugged in 24 hrs./day @ 10-cents a kilowatt hour, you would pay $17.52 year 20 watt @ 24 hours @ 365 days a year = 175,200 watt hours per year/1,000 watts = 175.2 kilowatt X 0.10 = $17.52 a year.
